Shortly after taking off from the Salt Lake City International Airport yesterday following the Pittsburgh/Utah matchup, Pens’ 19-year-old forward Ben Kindel experienced what has been termed a “medical episode” on the plane, requiring a return to the airport and admission to the University of Utah Hospital for Kindel. All indications are that the young man is conscious, alert & stable.
The details surrounding Kindel’s medical emergency remain unknown. The Athletic originally reported that he suffered a seizure, but it has since retracted that statement. Hopefully, it does not put at risk his long-term health or, secondarily, his promising career.
