Third-ranked Michigan State University kicked off the 2026-27 college hockey season with a convincing 5-2 exhibition win over No. 12 Boston College. Eric Nilson (ANA) and Anthony Romani (VAN) each scored twice for the Spartans, with Nilson adding an assist for a three-point evening. Goaltender and 2025 first round pick Joshua Ravensbergen (SJS) got the win for the Spartans, while 2026 first-round pick Oscar Hemming (CBJ) led the Eagles’ offensive attack with two assists.
The Spartans, boasting nine first-round NHL picks, showed their depth and physical edge in a matchup not seen since 2024. Meanwhile, BC has the chance for a bounce-back victory tonight when they face the United States National Team Development Program’s U18 team, as part of the USNTDP’s annual six-game College Series. The College Series serves as both good exhibition games for multiple college teams, as well as a nice introduction to the college game for USNTDP players.
