Occupying a spot on the University of Michigan’s first pair with Asher Barnett (EDM), in his first collegiate game, d-man & projected first overall pick Landon DuPont registered two assists to go along with a player rating of +3 in a 7-2 victory over Bowling Green State University. For his draft year, DuPont moved to the Wolverines after spending the past two seasons with the WHL’s Everett Silvertips, amassing 133 points in 127 games from the blue-line. Also, DuPont’s pairing with Barnett appears to present the ideal situation; an exceptional player in his own right, Barnett is known much more for his prowess on the defensive side of the puck, allowing DuPont to roam freely in creating offense for himself and his teammates.
In addition to DuPont, Montreal prospect Michael Hage (21st overall in 2024) also had a very productive start to the Wolverines’ 2026-27 season. Likely the future first-line center for the Canadiens, Hage had 3 points (2G 1A), his assist being one of two helpers, along with DuPont, on the second-period tally of linemate Jayden Perron (CAR).
The two teams face each other again at 6:00 p.m. in Bowling Green, Ohio.
