The CHL has named top 2027 draft prospects Brock England (WHL Seattle), Dima Zhilkin (OHL Saginaw), Alexis Joseph (QMJHL Saint John), and Carter Meyer (QMJHL Quebec) as the first four players selected to represent Team CHL for the 2026 CHL USA Prospects Challenge. The two-game event will be held December 1 in Chicoutimi and December 2 in Quebec City.
Joseph, a 6’5″ 210-pound pivot for the Sea Dogs, likely will be the second overall draft pick following University of Michigan d-man Landon DuPont. Joseph led all 16-year-olds in QMJHL scoring (60 points [24G 36A] in 54 games), and helped lead Canada Red to the gold medal at the 2025 U17 World Hockey Challenge.
England joined Joseph in winning gold at last season’s U17 Challenge, and duplicated his gold medal-winning ways at this season’s Hlinka-Gretzky Cup in Edmonton. This past WHL season, his 21 goals were the most by a 16-year-old for Seattle since Patrick Marleau’s 32 goals 30 seasons prior. Also like Joseph, he is a potential top-10 pick.
Likewise, right-winger Zhilkin is a candidate to join Joseph and England in the top 10 players chosen in the first round. The Spirit captain registered 75 points (36G 39A) in 59 OHL games last season, and tacked on another 7 points (5G 2A) in 5 contests at the U18 World Junior Championship. He recently was named the first OHL Player of the Week in 2026-27, and will join DuPont at the University of Michigan next season.
6’1″ pivot Meyer rounds out the list of potential top-10 picks in this group, and has begun his rookie season in the QMJHL with 4 points (1G 3A) in two games. He will be facing his former teammates at this year’s Prospects Challenge, as he spent the 2025-26 season with the United States National Team Development Program. Meyer will spend one season in Quebec prior to enrolling at Boston University for the 2027-28 season.
