The admission of elite Canadian Hockey League players to the NCAA has significantly added to the pipeline of quality players the USHL has provided, making college hockey must-see TV for hockey fans this season. Per collegehockeynews.com, over 300 NHL draft picks will compete for NCAA programs this season. Six programs stand out in 2026-27 as having the most high-end NHL draft picks at their collective disposal. Those schools are The University of Denver, the University of North Dakota, Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, Boston University, and Boston College. Combined, these schools boast the prospects of 21 NHL clubs, many of whom were selected within the first two rounds of their respective drafts.
Today’s profile is of Boston College, which follows up the past five days’ articles detailing the rosters of Denver, North Dakota, Michigan State, Michigan & Boston University. The links to those articles can be found below. The Eagles have 13 draft picks on its 2026-27 roster, led by the Boston Bruins’ four selections. Perhaps the most NHL-ready player on its roster is massive (6’7″ 229 LBS) forward Dean Letourneau (25th overall in 2024 to BOS), who is likely to turn pro following the NCAA season. He is the #2 prospect in the Bruins’ pool, following his former BC running mate James Hagens (7th overall in 2025) at #1.
Also regarding the forward group, returning for his sophomore year is fellow power forward and 1st-rounder Oscar Hemming (14th overall in 2026 to CBJ), who joined the Eagles mid-way through last season after a spat with his Finnish junior team caused him to miss the first half of the year. Also, among BC’s eight forward picks is elite playmaker Matias Vanhanen (37th overall in 2026 to NJD), who left the WHL champion Everett Silvertips to play for the Eagles this season. At last season’s Memorial Cup, Vanhanen tied for second in tournament scoring with 8 points (4G 4A), and I felt he was the tournament’s most dangerous threat to generate a scoring chance with the puck on his stick
On the backend, the Eagles boast three d-men and two goaltenders taken in the NHL’s selection process. The highest draft pick in its D corps is mobile shutdown defender Luke Schairer (75th overall in 2026 to STL), followed by the offensive-minded Quinn Beauchesne (148th overall in 2025 to PIT) and the 6’6″ Kristian Kostadinski (220th overall in 2023 to BOS). BC also boasts Louka Cloutier (132nd overall in 2024 to COL) and Leo Henriquez (170th overall in 2026 to BOS) between the pipes. Cloutier is the Eagles’ #1 netminder, and follows up a season in which he made 33 appearances for the Eagles.
