The admission of elite Canadian Hockey League players to the NCAA has significantly added to the pipeline of quality players the USHL has provided, making college hockey must-see TV for hockey fans this season. Per collegehockeynews.com, over 300 NHL draft picks will compete for NCAA programs this season. Six programs stand out in 2026-27 as having the most high-end NHL draft picks at their collective disposal. Those schools are The University of Denver, the University of North Dakota, Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, Boston University, and Boston College. Combined, these schools boast the prospects of 21 NHL clubs, many of whom were selected within the first two rounds of their respective drafts.
Today’s profile is of Boston University, which follows up the past four days’ articles detailing the rosters of The University of Denver, The University of North Dakota, Michigan State University & The University of Michigan. The links to those articles can be found below. The Terriers biggest strength lies up the middle, featuring four lines worth of NHL-level talent in Caleb Malhotra (3rd overall in 2026 to VAN), Tynan Lawrence (11th overall in 2026 to STL), Kamil Bednarik (61st overall to NYI) & Jonathan Morello (154th overall in 2024 to BOS). Malhotra and Lawrence both were first-round picks this summer, Malhotra being the unanimous best center in the draft and Lawrence a relentless forechecker with elite puck skills.
BU’s forward group also possesses elite talent at the wing position. Scoring will not present a problem when the following players (some also play the center position at times) are added to the afore-mentioned centers: Niklas Aaram-Olsen (41st overall in 2026 to VAN), Brandon Svoboda (71st overall in 2023 to OTT), Jack Harvey (193rd overall in 2024 to TBL), Jack Murtagh (40th overall in 2025), Ryder Ritchie (45th overall in 2024 by PHI) & Conrad Fondrk (50th overall in 2025 to NJD).
BU’s back-end also contains elite-level talent at the d-man and goaltender positions. With respect to its D corps, incoming freshmen Xavier Villeneuve (34th overall in 2026 to CHI) & Simon Wang (33rd overall in 2025 to SJS) join returners Carter Amico (38th overall in 2025 to PHI), Charlie Trethewey (73rd overall in 2025 to PIT) & Aiden Clebrini (171st overall in 2023 to VAN) to form a formidable blueline, with both high-end scoring (Villeneuve) and two-way shutdown play (Amico). With respect to its goaltending, the highly-touted Mikhail Yegorov (49th overall in 2024 to NJD) returns to make life miserable for would-be goal scorers. Through two games this season, Yegorov sports a .976 save percentage and 0.50 goals-against average to bolster his unbeaten record.
