When asked, QMJHL forward and potential top-5 2027 draft prospect Alexis Joseph stated it would be an “honor” to stay close to home by suiting up for the Habs. Specifically, the native of Lachenaie, QC, which sits about 20 minutes outside Montreal, good-naturedly offered to become the Canadiens’ second-line pivot. That position currently is occupied by Alex Newhook, and previously was held by Oliver Kapanen until his recent day-to-day lower body injury, and likely will revert to that role upon his return. Kapanen is coming off a rookie season in which he tallied 22 goals.
The 6’5″ Joseph enjoyed an excellent 2025-26 in his own right. He registered 60 points (24G 36A) in 54 games for the rebuilding Saint John Sea Dogs. Currently, he has totaled 6 points (2G 4A) in 6 games in 2026-27.
